It’s in our nature to be optimistic and we all like to think ‘it’ll never happen to me‘. But reality is at some point we’re likely to be faced with unexpected events in our lives.
In New Zealand these are daily averages:
- 24 New Zealander’s have a stroke
- 8 women will be told they have breast cancer
- 8 men will be told they have prostrate cancer
Sadly the majority of them have no cancer/trauma insurance.
Cancer a major killer in New Zealand, with more than 23,000 people diagnosed every year.
Figures released by the Ministry of Health in May 2018 showed more than 9,500 people died from cancer each year, representing 31 per cent of all deaths recorded in New Zealand. The number of people affected by cancer was also expected to increase by 50 per cent by 2035.
Then you have the number one killer:
- 16 people will die from coronary heart disease every day (every 90 minutes on average)
Sadly the majority of them have no life insurance to provide something for those left behind.
186,000 people are living with heart disease right now with many unaware.
